When I think of you
my thoughts are yellow
tinged with red,
not the cool shades
of lemon or cadmium
(like the yellow Christ)
but more the warm ochre of
golden light on lady-skin
and sensuous
heated loving
in a terracotta landscape.
Then perhaps vermillion
or alizarin crimson
for the burning-red
redheads of Ondine
or Christ
(the one with your face)
in the Garden Of Olives.
Confident in your uniqueness
you sign your signature
not in blood
but in that same
shade of crimson.
Now when I think of you
my thoughts are red
tinged with yellow,
leaving me breathless
with emotion.

I love the way you use colour in all your poems,
painting a picture, especially this one.
Thanks for an artistic read.
Jenny.

Love the synesthete(sp?) quality of this.
I could really see and feel it.
Beautiful!

Vivid and beautiful, you have a definite style to your poems which I like very much. :-)

vivid is the perfect word for this

I say I think it was well worth the effort, rich and visual.

pink book - yes that's exactly what I was thinking of, synaesthesia! I tried to bring the word into poem but it didn't seem to work. It's a fascinating condition - I've just read a novel where the main character has it then I went to Gaugin exhibition and wondered...
Thanks so much for your feedback.
Fatboy, many thanks to you also - especially commenting on my `style'. It really gave me a boost as none of it comes easy and I did loads of drafts for this!
PS. Just noticed the cherries - so pleased and thank you eds.

Thanks to shoe and insert for your comments - always appreciated.
I edited my previous thanks so it's out of date order now and it looks like I'm talking to myself! I just wanted to add re book I read referred to above and `synesthesia' - thought maybe I should explain it's apparently a condition in which emotions can be seen as colours. I have only just learned that and am quite obsessed with it now.
