Question Eighteen – What pass times are great for single people?
Donna
Being able to do what you want; e.g. go out dancing without worrying about a husband &/ kids at home or a curfew.

Goodness, I have explored so many! My favourite is a having a one-on-one coffee chat with a friend. Writing has been big for me – journaling to poetry and blogging. Reading, there is so much to read, from great new novels to the classics and the self-development books. Motivating, and caring for, others has been big for me, I have time to follow people’s stories and message them to see how things are going and even visit them if needed. Photography, walking, hiking and sports. Crafts, mostly in the form of making gifts, such as knitting, fabric painting, canvas painting, sketching, making cards. Leadership courses and further studies. Dance classes, Bible studies, Church Service, volunteering to be involved in needy causes, art classes and gardening. Travelling the world. These are some of the activities I continue to enjoy and have been involved in over the years.

Travelling, listening to music, reading and lying in on the weekends. Socializing with friends and family and doing all the things that bring one joy!

If you’re a dancer, Salsa evenings are a great way to get out, have fun and meet people.

I would say: whatever YOU want to do! So many married girlfriends of mine seem to have either abandoned or seriously curtailed their hobbies and interests. I think often this is the reality of being a wife and mother when your time is no longer your own. But, I also see girlfriends who choose to devote time to the interests of their partner, at the expense of their preferred pastimes. Being single means you don’t have to compromise on how you spend your free time!

Whatever lifts your spirit and reduces your loneliness. Get involved in your community – that’s key.
