Fascinating, frightening and enlightening. It's going to stick in my mind for a while, this one. It's a story of a troubled child who struggles to adapt to a new environment. Quite correctly (as the boy voices the narration) details of the trauma are sparse - there is no unnatural "talking to camera" retelling his past. The tone and pace of the writing is spot on, making this believable right from the off.

Jackie - I'd be interested to know more of the background for this story. Who is Paulino? Is he real or fictional?

It's very well written and has the sense of Paulino's mystification down very well but I found the final liberation to be a tad twee, I'm afraid. What do others think?
