Well written diaries
Hurrah, the beginning of another well written diary. This time from alan benefit:

I think back to some of those that have gone before: sooz (http://www.abctales.com/user/44044), purplehaze (http://www.abctales.com/user/purplehaze) and that excellent gay American guy - come on, you can remember him?
It's well worth the effort to go back and read some of the old ones!
Anyone else fancy trying to write a really well written diary. It's a form whose time is yet to come I think - but I don't believe that it's far off. Publishers, take note!

Thanks, Tony. I should be more consistent with my diary, but I usually only do it if something interesting happens - which it doesn't often! My original idea with 'The Diaries of Alan Benefit' was a Welfare State version of Alan Bennett's diaries. Then, somehow, it got fictionalised... and then it died. I might resurrect the factual version - if I can find things to put in it other than 'Same as yesterday'! Sadly, episodes like this don't happen every day.

I've read the King book, and I agree with the sentiment totally. Do it for yourself.
The diary is poignant and tells a story. It doesn't try too hard. Really good.
