Relativity
It thought it might be nice to have a thread about little old grannies or troublesome siblings but instead since I’m even more brain dead than usual at the moment I thought we might discuss relativity.
Now I know there are many super science types out there all clued up on Dark Mass and Dark Energy and other such fictions and I’d be grateful if one of them could try to explain in the simplest terms whether or not energy is ever actually transformed into matter or simply into extra mass.
Now I know there have been many experiments where energy has seemingly created particles but as I remember the current theory allows for particles to pop into and out of existence regardless of energy input... so that’s no great feat.
So what I’m getting at is have scientists ever actually created anything material from energy – you know the sort of beam me up Scotty transporter sort of thing where energy is actually converted into a physical entity which you could touch.
The idea of using entangled particles to recreate a physical copy– a perfect clone – at a distant location is rather entertaining but is it actually just another dream?
Talking of entangled particles since they seem to have the property of instant communication wouldn’t that contradict Einstein’s theory which states that no information can travel faster than the speed of light? Yes, I know, it’s already been proved to be false via quantum tunnelling but the quality of the information that can be transmitted in this way has been disputed.
Probably childish questions but any answers would be appreciated.
