Music

As I sit here waiting for word from my husband ( He is finally on his way home ! *happy dance* ) I am listening to music. This fellow I am listening to is Amos Lee. He is one of the new young guns from the South of the U.S. I find his music almost hymnal in nature.

Tell me about the music you listen to :)

Pink Floyd- enuff said ;)
After my biscuits (Am: cookies) and milk (Am: gasoline) I like to relax to the sound of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDhaZElJ4Ho Nanny likes it too.
Too many to mention, but whilst we're plugging random people no one has ever heard of here's my three: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peQRBSSLdqY - his first Live album is phenomenal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVOcFme-ZUQ - Lyrical and poetic genius. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIez7lGxKps. They did a song called Love Kittens. What, you want more?!
And John, you made me very happy by putting The The up at the end. It does boggle me how little known they are today.
I love to listen to Laura Siersema in the evening by candlelight, she just moves me so much. The album:- Talon of the Black Water, is one of my favourites. Jenny. Track:- My Eye This Flower in Julep runs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXVChpeCFXQ&feature=related

I don't listen to music anymore but when I did, TOOL was my favorite. If I listen to anything, its that.

Nicholas Schoonbeck

Ive rediscovered Deep Purple! The 'Machine Head' album. i'm so pleased someone asked - thanks loads!

Anything by Elliott Smith and lots of movie soundtracks. Recently saw Jane Eyre, the music to that was magical!

Everything from Sinatra to the Dead Kennedys, Yann Tiersen - nora Jones Weezer are a fav right now tho for some reason.
I am not surprised Harry Music has always influenced my writing. When I get an itch to tap something out, but have no specific thought to work on. I can turn on music and something always comes to me. The two mediums have always had a direct connection to one another in my opinion.
Wow! so you like Hawkwind Richard, great to know there are other Hawkwind music lovers on here. I used to be a Hawkwind Freak back in the 70s followed them everywhere and had some amazing experiences at their gigs, met some people, that had a massive influence on my life. Just felt the need to write this down, hope you don't mind. Jenny.

My favorite song: E.T. (Extraterestrial) by Katy Perry, ft. Kanye West. If you like pop and rap, then you'll most likely like this =). Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Savannah

P.S. the music video is weird (at first, but the more you watch it, the more you like it), but the song is AWESOME!!! Savannah

I went to see Emmy The Great in Camden a couple of weeks ago. Her song 24 always makes me cry and this time she saw me doing it. Her song M.I.A is both tragic and an inspiration. I hope a few of you will have a listen on You Tube and share a little moment of musical joy.

Is there anyone out there who remembers Scott Joplin played at the proper speed, (slowly) and Boogie Woogie?
Andrea - Superb. I'll keep an eye out for them from now on. Savannah - I'm not a massive pop fan (last pop act I liked was Alisha's Attic!) but I found a lady called Janelle Monae recently, and she's cracking. Geoffrey - I don't know a lot of Scott Joplin, but I do have a soft spot for Sidney Bechet, amongst others.

Death Star Canteen takes the pling out of Lego and puts it right back into Starwars. It was hilarious.loved it Footsie... Charlie Bit me- well he did put his finger in Charlie's mouth didn't he? I think this may be very inspiring for my next poem about kids and wet trays that can kill! It will be very very profound. hehe PS I am working on a translation of The dance song for you FTSE..the lyrics are beautiful...
Here it is Ftse- The Dance Ballad a glimt of sunlight in a puddle a slight brush of the wind on your cheek the rushes humming a song about your life being meek a silvered whistle in the treetops a faint play-tag sound from a cat the murmur of the brook a whisper in the hedgerow tells us it no longer is night the meadow is wet with dew the Maiden Dawn leaves to rest the days rises playfully anew and walks across the bridge of the sun at it's best and us two, what about us two? You and me? I'm dancing and dancing and I only sense you why did you run away? Come back, come back come back my love. wherever you wish, we shall dance Come lets us dance anything can happen come let us dance let us laugh a few verses are repeated Phew- it lost a bit in translation- I'm not very good at it- it's really beautiful in danish. ;0 Pia
Some songs that Angels might like: Earth Angel (The Penguins) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3ykKpDMsvU&feature=related There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)- Eurythmics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlGXDy5xFlw&ob=av2e I have A Dream (ABBA) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ad9U3h2UmcA&feature=related Angel Of The Morning – Merilee Rush http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y16Ac9O9Alc JoHn
I agree Ftse- the cover versions are often better than the original. This one with Linda was lovely- she was so young and she is very beautiful- and she sure can sing! I think it was from 1974- that is a long time ago!!! http://www.d-a-d.dk/video/24/bad_craziness This band sort of grew on me - originally they called themselves Disneyland after Dark but Disney set a stopper for that so now they are just D.A.D- hard rock- their lyrics are hard hitting but I like them
Their guitar playing sure wakes up the neighbours and I'm sure yours would too. Here are 2 covers with a lovely lady- Cæcilie Nordby- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSPYZmVX37I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8CErA0xZUQ I'd better stop here or I could go on and on- ha ha Have a great day everyone...
Cat Stevens - Moon Shadow. Hendrix - little wing. Rob Zombie - American Witch. Black Sabbath - Wizard. Genesis - Firth of Fifth. Lynyrd Skynrd - Pure and Simple. Free - Over the Green hills. Deep Purple - Strange kind of Woman. Doors - Road House Blues. The Jeff Healey Band - Confidence Man. The Byrds - Chestnut Mare. I could go on and on... Jenny.

Two eighties kids programs which inspired a love of books/stories and also had memorable theme music. The Book Tower (which was presented by Tom Baker) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eELwEjTa6AQ&feature=related Storybook International http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=Rs3X90RLW3A JoHn
