Celtic 0—2 Borussia Monchengladbach

The better team won and deserved to win, but the Borussia goals were second-half gifts from Kolo Toure. The second goal in 77 minutes, which effectively killed off the tie, was attributed to Andre Hahn and flew into the top corner, leaving Craig Gordon, the Celtic keeper with no chance, but a more careful viewing might show that Toure’s attempted tackle simply added power and dip to the shot. Twenty minutes earlier he’d been caught dawdling with the ball at his feet trying to let the ball roll out on the Celtic bye line. Hahn poked it backwards; Lars Stindl’s shot went through Gordon’s legs at the near post. Up until that point the keeper had been Celtic’s best player. But in truth Celtic didn’t have a best player. Perhaps the most culpable were Nir Bitton who regressed to a former player Parkhead regulars are familiar with, who, if he didn’t get caught on the ball, picked out a Monchengladbach player with his passes. It was no surprise he was hooked. Patrick Roberts coming on for an anonymous James Forest was also overdue. The German team were slicker in midfield and superior all over the park. There’ll be no Europa league after Christmas. Bottom of the group on one point, it’s difficult to see us getting another. But you know I love the Champions League. We’re not as good as we think we are and it offers the cliché of a much needed reality check.

Next up, Rangers. We may not be as good as we think we are but we are far better than Rangers. Ironically, with Toure’s performance Celtic’s best player might have been Simunovic who was an unused substitute, but might have played himself into contention for Sunday’s League Cup semi-final. Talk up the treble, because it’s coming up to Christmas and hopefully we’ll have the first piece of Rodger’s silverware in the bag.

Read all the reports sounds like everyone gave up after 15 mns. Celics strikeforce looks sound enough and the issues obviousley are in midfield.

Listen see the money come to parkhead now and with mr desmonds dough right I think is time to push the boat out and buy some quality midfielders and really give the fans something to shout about.

The tick are big and bold enough to set there sights on furthering past the first champions league round I mean celic must have a big bank account at the moment. Is time to spend. They must and get rid of those who are not turning up on the big nights.

champions league is a money spinner. These are even bigger matches than the old firm games, but the teams we are playing are better. Better than us, but its the games I really look forward to seeing. Against Manchester City I was jumping out of my seat. Memorable. And that night we beat Barcaleona a few years ago. Ecstasy. Back to the old firm game on Sunday. Bread and butter. But we've had the sweet stuff. Back to the real stuff.

I always think though that mr desmond could do lots more and hes got the biscuit tin mentality unfortunetly. How much is the guy worth. He could like some if these multi millionares who back english clubs, he could put more money into buy decent players needed. This extra 30 odd million for qualifying for champions league plus a bit from.mr desmond could go long way in buying whats needed plus its an investment back into the champions league and more 30 millions in further years but what he could really do and what I think I would do if I was in.his position and to really push celtic fc into better places would be to put a couple of hundred million into buying the best players and really going for success in the champions league over a few seasons. So what if it fails he could sell the players bought and hes a very successful canny buisness man so im sure he could make it all back. Why doesnt he u see him at parkheid watching the games if celic were truly in.his heart would he not do something like this to help lift the team to european success and show the world the great name of brother walfrid and what it means is still succeeding today.

I wish he would hes got the cash but anyway all luck for sunday.

he's a businessman and that means business. He's not putting his money in. I guess we've got to be grateful he's not robbing us (too much). You're right, I he was a fan he'd at least turn up for the big European nights. Now show and no dough. He'll never be poor, that's for sure.
