Meow :)

Hello everyone :)

I'm new here, it's my first day. I was pointed in this direction by a friend who said this was a nice, friendly, creative community I might enjoy being a part of, so here I am :). I'm a member of a couple of other sites but I'm always excited to find a new group of writers to read and chat to.

It will probably bore you rigid, but I thought I'd introduce myself and say a bit about who I am :) I hope to find out all about you guys too.

I have always made a living from writing in one form or another, mainly print journalism. I was a journalist on various music and glossy mags in London in the dreaded Eighties, before becoming homesick and leaving London to return home to the Westcountry. I worked as a reporter on my regional daily and weekly newspapers for more than 10 years, until leaving to have my baby.

My daughter is now nine and my pleasure in writing hasn't diminished over the years, but it has changed, and now I enjoy writing more creatively, short stories and poetry, with the odd book or music or product review thrown in if i need the cash. I'm divorced, and I just turned 40 (a scary combination lol), but I am heartened by reading recently that these days the majority of newly published novellists are in their 40s ;)

I'm really happy to be here and look forward to reading everyone's work and getting to know everyone.
