Urgent guys, please help. Can't write until I get an answer to this one.

I'm so bloody stuck on this stupid chapter. I need somebody up on roulette please. I've been playing stupid practice games online, but they are cons and loaded to make you win so that you play for real cash. I need accurate odds.

so

If somebody bet two hundred and eighty pounds on black and one hundred pounds on even and won on both (50/50 chance on each) what would his return be? It's not a straight double of the stake is it? Doesn't the house take a percentage?

If he went on to do this twice more and win on all occasions (no way impossible, I managed to do it three times in an hour) would the return stay the same with each spin or would it increase?

Basically what I'm asking is, he's got three eighty, he needs three consecutive wins ... how much will he come out with each spin?

I've looked at rules and they made my eyes go squiffy and my brain leak.

And now I'll go and thumb twiddle, read some ABC, I'm stopped ,still, standing stood until I get an answer. and with the amount of pretend money that I've just won, I can understand why the broke and gullible turn to internet gambling.

Thanks all. xxx

I'm not an expert but I'm pretty sure the house wouldn't take a cut of winnings. They make their money from the far greater number of losing bets. As for the maths, does he put his winnings back in as well each time? So, he bets £280, wins £560, does he then put £560 in to win £1120? And then £1120 to win £2240? The £100 on even would presumably then go £200 then £400 then £800? So £3040 altogether. Not a bad night's work but not enough to retire on.
I think the house pays twice the stake if the player wins, ie. bet one pound, he gets two back. If the player keeps his stake plus his winnings down without removing it, he gets back twice his stake and winnings. Good luck, but the best luck you can have is not to bet at all.

That's right if you are just betting on red and black - the house takes its cut when the ball lands on zero as then all red and black bets are losses.
So Alex says straight double up. Blighter's says two to one And Tony agrees straight double. Okay I can work with that. Thank you so much. To writing I will go. Thanks all.

Ok, if you put your money on red or black. you get back double what you put on. The house takes nothing! So if you put £100 on black and it comes out black you get £200. The same for red. Nice and easy. Its the same for odds and even, exactly the same ( even money). If you win you double your money. Now if you bet direct on the wheel, there are 36 numbers If you have £1 on 32 for example and it comes in then you get £36 quid.

Perfect thanks all, I've done it, got past it and written it. Glad that's over with. Now all I need is a rich man to take me, and all of my newly gained knowledge, to a casino for the first time in my life. In fact I'm adding that to my bucket list. I want to go to a casino one day with a hundred pounds to blow. And I'll loose it and then grieve it for the next six months, thinking about all of the things I could have done with that money.

Yeah, Sooz, you get back double the stake on the 50/50 bets. The money that Alex said (£3040) is correct for the scenario you painted. However, that means the winnings are 3040 less the 380 original stake - 2660 winnings plus the original stake that you still hold. Not sure how deeply you want to get into description but there are a couple of extra little points. In a european casino, there is one zero which is coloured green - that is the house's percentage as it were cos all the 50/50 bets lose if zero comes up. In most american casinos, there are two zeros (0 and 00) which doubles the house's advantage. If the person has bet on 'black' and 'even' every time and won, that means you could specify the actual numbers that have come up. You have a choice from the following:- 2,4,6,8,10,20,22,24,26,28. Hope this helps. Helvigo Jenkins
