Jonathan Franzen - The Corrections
Am halfway through it. It evokes an amazing breadth of emotions. So perfectly painfully well-observed. It is so much more than just a book about a family falling apart.
Jealous.
Joe
D'you know, I'd forgotten I've read this!
Thanks Joe, I'll dig it out again.
Only half-way through?
You wait, it gets better and funnier.
I read the press reviews (and comments on here) before I bought it... i thought... yeah, it's possibly good but not THAT good.
It was and is.
Enjoy the boat scene.
No wonder it took him ten years to write.
I'd not I've.
duh.
i read this book this year and loved it ... each section i found i got so used to the family member and their point of view that i didnt want to change to another and then as soon as i did i loved the next one just as much ...
it is cruelly funny ... it has lines in it that made me gasp and read them out loud to anyone who would listen ... fabulous writing ... the characters are so well observed ... i am very jealous ...
Interesting observations, folks. I read it shortly after it came out. It was ok but I didn't find it all that special.
