Counter cheese

The safest way to dispose of stiffs
is to hide them beneath the French
cheeses: raclette, emmental. The whiff
of corpse is nothing to the deli's stench.
When asked for a slab of Cheshire
give them instead the locks of his hair.
When they ask for truckles of goat's cheese
just give them the lopped off lobes of his ears.
When asked for a hunk of Gruyere
be sure to hand them the caps of his knees.
In such a way the remains may disperse
into the sandwiches and salads
of those who have their preference
packed up, sealed, as though in a hearse.
Toes, tongue, thigh, all gobbled by good-natured
folk; chewing slowly, growing in tolerance.
