A toddy,
a nip,
a dram
or sip.
A shot,
a slug,
a swig
and gulp.
This tipple, this snifter.
Fall to sleep
like an eskimo
with each word
for snow
falling,
stumbling to rest.
A blanket, a dusting.
Sinuses that harmonise,
yet remember nothing,
except to rise and find
the thesaurus open
as a bottle
kept in a cardboard tube
like a message
from head office.
