Parker knew he was on the hit list. Having found someone even more
important than him swinging from a rope in his office, he made a noose,
climbed onto a desk and killed himself in front of everyone.
I am a detective. I have to stay alive, and keep everyone else alive,
and catch the bad guys.
Hitmen. Murders. Hangings.
Witness Protection Programs.
I was undercover and I was doing a good job until I was found
out.
Sitting in the back of a stolen police Defender, a car used by
bodyguards. Car 14. In front of me, the driver, a man with a thick neck
like a tree trunk. In the front passenger seat, the boss. He is no
mystery. Just a business man doing business. On my left is a thug. An
expendable, unattractive man, whose name comes up towards the end of
the credits: thug#2 or thug#3.
Outside I see a motorcycle in the oncoming traffic. A man is riding
with a female passenger, all dressed in leather, wearing helmets. I
know something is wrong. Something about the way the passenger is
sitting, a little too far back from the man in front, fiddling with
something between them, pulling out a gun and pointing it towards our
car.
For a moment I thought the bullets were aimed at us, but I soon
realised my mistake when my window broke and only I had to duck.
She had been firing a spray of bullets out of an Uzi. The back of the
car was full of holes, I was covered in broken glass, but I was
unhurt.
The thug (#2) in the seat next to me looks at me and then says
something to the driver.
The boss looks at the driver and also speaks.
The driver turns the car around and heads back towards the motorcycle,
which has also turned around, for another pass.
I duck again.
More broken glass, although my window has already been shot out.
No holes. At least not in me.
I look around the car with a raised eyebrow and I shrug, laughing
apologetically for not being dead.
Sorry, guys.
