THE CHRONICLES OF MERTH - MER'S DAY OUT CHAPTER THREE

We sat in the cafe, Felps, his mate - I'd learned his name was Dibs - and I. Felps and Dibs were each having a cheeseburger, and I had an extra cheesy pizza, with a chocolate topped fudge cake for dessert.
We only had half an hour to eat all our food. Felps and Dibs needed to deliver their money to their boss before something hit something else. I couldn't understand through mouthfuls of burger.
As soon as Felps and Dibs had finished their burgers, they dragged me out of my seat, even though I'd barely finished my pizza, through about ten dreckels at the waitress, and rushed me outside to where the spaceship was waiting.
"Now, Mer, you understand we can't be nice to you anymore," Felps told me. "That was a one-off. From now on, we are going to act more like kidnappers and be mean to you."
"Very, very mean," Dibs pulled a goofy face, much rather like my brother, Mick, when he's trying to remember what two plus two is.
Felps produced from nowhere a roll of sticky tape, and put some over my mouth. "It's nothing personel," he said. "?It's just so you won't wander round the ship and slow us down even more than you already have."
Dibs gave him some rope, and Felps tied my hands behind my back. I felt there was no use struggling, I was a puny little kid against these muscly thugs.
Felps lifted me up over his shoulder and carried me to the attic of the ship, where he dumped me, and left without saying anything else. The door shut, and I heard the key turning in the lock.
I shut my eyes, willing myself to believe everything will be OK in the end...

Meanwhile...

Mr Landry came out of his house armed with a bucket of water and a hose. He was planning to give his spaceship a birthday and wash it thoroughly. Last he knew, his son Mer was in there, reading comics, to keep cool from the sun.
As he stepped into the harsh light, he started blinking. After he got used the light, he nioticed something was missing from the garden. Something big and important.
After he realized what it was, he went running into the house.
"KARINA!" He hollared to his wife. "KARINA! MER'S GONE MISSING!"
