Prologue: The Legend
Long ago, the world was a place of utter chaos, of which darkness ruled over everyone, and everthing. Darkness was lord and leader, and the price of resisting was death by torture. Or they would keep you alive and continuously hurt you until you pleaded for it, but then they wouldn't give it to you. That was the ultimate punishment. There was a young group, a small group, of which resisted the darkness. They were called the Chosen. The Chosen Five.
Each wielded a blade. The blades made them immortal, but only for as long as the blade was still within grasp. If the blade and person were separated, the person could be killed. There were eight blades altogether, but only five worked to regain the freedom that had been lost. In total, there was the Phoenix Blade of Flame, the Vine Blade of Earth, the Haunting Blade of Darkness, the Saber Blade of Light, the Tsunami Blade of Water, the Frozen Blade of Ice, the Winged Blade of Air, and the Striking Blade of Thunder. Darkness, Water, and Ice were evil, and wished to completely rule the world.
At first, once they all gained the power of the blades, they used it to defend the peo0ple and to destroy all evil. But as time went on, they started to disagree, and three left to fight for the pure joy of killing, for the joy of power, the want, the need. They were full of malign, and were past reason.
Marouq, the wielder of the Shadow Blade of Darkness, was the ruler at the terrible time, ordering those who followed him. Merlin, the wielder of the Frozen Blade of Ice, was almost always at his side.
The Chosen five battled for a long, long time. Long, and hard. They never gave up, even in the worst of times. But in the end, only one remained to tell the tale, and then he disappeared. They say that once he watched his brother, Archie, the wielder of the Phoenix Blade of Flame, fall over the edge of the cliff, battled Merlin, smething snapped inside of him. Archie had been all that he'd had left, and then he was suddenly gone, and he was all alone. He couldn't take it, and he let go. He just disappeared. No one knows for sure what happened to him. He could still be alive, or he could be dead.
Marouq is still out there, waiting, watching, until he can take his power up again and challenge all who appose him and his rule. Though wounded, he searches for the blades.
Though from that day on, no on had seen or heard of the blades again.
Until today...
