Shaman Exposed

I'm an old man now, not half the man I once was.
My bones, my boy, they've grown hard and coarse.
My visions are blurry and strange -- nightmares or flashbacks.
Every time I stop, I recall my tribe:
those fruitless men who kicked me out.
It's been so damned long. I danced like an eagle in heat
a buffalo on hoofs of blazing fire.
Then, some kids got smart, called me a "fake."
I'd brought them rain,
I'd brought them light.
Out of home and out on life, I wandered across the Alaskan Snow,
searching for a nest where I could perch. On day,
what a babe I saw with blackest hair and luscious eyes.
I could think of nothing more.
I went to her home, waiting for the right moment to snatch her.
They told me,
"She's a princess descended from Such-and-Such."
I just shot them. She's quite afraid of me
but loves me more than your will know.
She misses her brothers, but I tell her
they'd slipped off to the Cave of Bears...
where spirits dress them off for sleep.
She even smiles & laughs at my dirty jokes.
So cold and so blizzard these nights. I often hear the
voice of Soma as she sheets me off to her bed. I love my wife
and all, but Soma has such a sweet, beguiling voice,
a most daring thing in woman. When I toss and turn
in the throes of nightmares, she comes to me
with lips of such deadly tongues, I melt to smiles.
Rugged as a wolf have I become, knowing nothing
of limits and pains. I think I am heading
toward a Great Home where I may die in peace. Even my gal is afraid
when I go off into my hunts. I come back, an spell-bound
cadaver with a grin.
Years after years of chants,
dances, and lust has cast my body with metallic limbs.
As I descend and ascend from one of my trances,
I know I can eat my wife and live in peace.
North I climb, I wait for the Great Bear
to wrestle with my soul.
When I meet him, I'll watch his eyes until my death. Then, I'll see Soma,
climbing up my ribs and tearing me apart
with hands as horny as thunder.
