"What do you mean 'the police?'"
Asked Mariya

"Think about it, Mariya.

It all makes perfect sense.

Brent was furious when he found out that the baby was not his.

He was so angry that he decided to kill Maya."
Stated Antanas

"But that doesn't make sense.

It is all circumstantial.

You have no proof that he has done anything wrong.

He's only a 17 year old kid."
She said

"17 year olds are capable of a lot more than you may think.

There was the Rod Ferrell case back in 1996, where a 16-year-old boy murdered two innocent people in Eustis, Florida.

If this Brent kid did in fact try to kill my daughter, I am going to make sure that he pays for it."
Said an angry Antanas

"But why would he try to kill her in school, where there would be many witnesses?"
Asked Mariya

Just then, Rayna stepped into the room, and said,
"Because when they were together, everyone else had already gone to class.

They were alone."

Antanas looked at her as if to say,

"Finally, someone understands what I'm trying to explain."

I will be back just as soon as I can."

"No, don't!"
Shouted Maya

"You can't.
He did not do this, I know he didn't.

Please don't.

I am begging you.

I will never be able to show my face in this town again if you do. Please."

"I'm sorry.

Please do not be angry with me.

I'm only trying to protect you."
Said Antanas as he walked away.

Maya was screaming for him to stop, but he just ignored her.

As he arrived at the police station, he was asked to wait because (as you can imagine) nearly every officer was too busy with the murder cases that had been piling up.

He waited there for almost two hours before someone finally agreed to see him.

He explained in as much detail as he knew about Maya, Brent and what he believed happened.

The officer that he was speaking to was apprehensive about taking on a new case when they were so busy.

Even with the help of the FBI, things were still crazy.

"Listen Mr. Alekseev. I'll look into it when I get a free moment, but I can't guarantee anything."
Said the officer to Antanas

He responded by saying,

"That's not good enough!

By then it could be too late. Officer, my daughter almost died yesterday, and I am 100% sure that this Brent kid is responsible. I realize that you are busy trying to find the killer, but if you just let this go, you'll be letting a killer go."

"I'm sorry, sir, but that's the best I can offer you."
Said the officer as he slowly walked away, leaving Antanas angrier than he was before.

"There is only one thing left to do."
He said to himself.

Maya and Mariya had both fallen back to sleep again.

Rayna was still awake, but feeling herself getting more and more tired.

She desperately did not want to fall asleep, but was overpowered.

She had finally fallen asleep.

She began having this strange dream...

She was in a strange looking room alone.

It was dark, but there was a faint light coming from another room.

She heard whispers calling her name and saying in Bulgarian,
"Никога не спрат да търсят това, което отдавна желания."
(Never stop searching for what you have long desired.)

The voice was familiar, as if she had heard it long ago.

She awoke soon after, and felt somehow comforted. Like she knew that no matter what, everything was going to be all right. She quickly fell back to sleep, but did not continue the dream.

It was now 1:27 AM, and Antanas was driving.

He had called someone asking them for a favor.

The person on the other end was more than happy to comply.

Mariya woke up a few hours later, and decided to call Antanas to see where he was, and why he was not back yet.

She stepped outside of the building, and called her husband. It rang quite a few times before he finally answered.

"Where are you? What is taking so long?"
Asked Mariya

"I'm driving to Rame Settori."
Answered Antanas

"Rame Settori?

Why are you going there?

That's four hours away."
Stated Mariya

"I have some business to tend to there."
Said Antanas

"Business?

What kind of business?

Why am I just now hearing about this?

Antanas, what is going on?

Did you talk to the police?"
Asked Mariya

"The police wouldn't help me, so I had to find it elsewhere."
Answered Antanas

Mariya was deadpan.

"Antanas, why are you really going to Rame Settori?

Please tell me you're not going to see...?"

Antanas cut her off by saying,

"Mariya, whether you believe me or not, I am only trying to help Maya.

I do not want whoever did this to go unpunished.

I tried going to Brent's house earlier, but his parents claimed they hadn't seen him since Friday morning.

I think they're covering for him."

"Antanas, please.

I'm begging you.

There are other ways.

I'm sure the police will do everything they can to help us, please."

"I have to do this, Mariya.

I have to."
