JUST SHOOTING THE BREEZE.
It should have been obvious but we still all believed in "being British", though I did wonder at the time why we were quite so gung-ho to defend the Falklands, now we know. Oil!! One would think that with climate change firms would be pouring money into renewable energy sources but no, there is nothing in that for oilmen. The government allow firms to put up windmills as a sop to renewable energy but the places where the real energy lives get very little investment. Wind power is not only the cheapest renewable energy source but also the least productive. Why are we not, as a country surrounded by water, putting money into tidal power. It may well be expensive to set up but once its up and running costs will come down - they always do.
And just who are these companies searching for oil in the Falklands? Are they British firms? Will the oil be available to us? Or will it go the way of Scottish oil?

I was walking along a back alley earlier on today when I noticed, in one of the garage gutters, a veritable garden of weeds growing there."Someone should get that down," I said to myself, looking back at the path just in time to see my foot heading for a spread of dog-shit. I avoided it nimbly, saying, "And someone should get that up!"
