The Angel's Silence 33

John awoke in severe pain.

He was lying in a pool of blood.

He had been stabbed in the back, and was unable to move.

The front door had been left open.

John tried with all of his might to stand up, but could not.

He shouted for Adamo to help him, but it was met with no response.

He was not sure how long he had been lying there.

He barely remembered what had happened. Some time had passed, and he heard footsteps.

All he could see was someone's shoes before his face.

"Oh, my... I am going to get some help for you, sir. I'll be right back."

A voice said.

A few minutes later, the man returned.

"Help is on the way. Can you hear me?"

John tried to speak, but it was hard to understand him.

A few more minutes had passed, and John could hear sirens.

The paramedics were here.

John tried to ask someone where Adamo was, but like before, no one could understand him.

As he was lifted onto the stretcher, he looked over at the bed, and Adamo was not there.

His heart sank.

"Did the person who attacked me kidnap him?"

He asked himself

He could hear the paramedics whispering,

"This is a really bad wound. If we don't get him to the hospital soon he isn't going to make it."

This was the last thing John needed to hear, but the only thing he cared about at that moment was getting Adamo back safe.

It was now 3: 45 AM. Mariya had been at Antanas beside all night.

There was still no change in his condition.

It had been so quiet for a long time when suddenly the silence was broken.

She stepped out of his room to find where the sound was coming from.

There were people screaming. She followed the sound, and saw doctor's bringing in a man that appeared to have been stabbed.

It was John Siena.

Mariya's human curiosity wondered how it happened, but knew it was none of her business, so she went back to Antanas' room.

John's wounds were bad.

By their positions, doctor's feared that they had punctured his kidneys or spine.

However, they had no way of knowing at this point. Their first priority was to stop the bleeding.

He was given six blood transfusions.

Fifteen minutes past, and John began to vomit blood.

This could mean only one thing, that he was bleeding internally.

He was quickly taken into surgery. He continued to bleed out. Surgeons discovered that his spleen had ruptured, as well as one of his kidneys. He had been stabbed a total of four times in the back by a large hunter's knife. They worked on him for more than three hours. They had stopped the bleeding, and did their best to repair his kidney and spleen. Only time would tell if they were successful. He was wheeled into recovery.

Elena was at home, asleep on the sofa, when the phone rang. It awoke her, and she got up to see who it was.

However, the name on the caller I.D. was one that she did not recognize.

She wasn't sure whether or not to answer it, but she just wanted to go back to sleep, so she answered it.

"Hello? Who is this?"

She asked

At first there was only silence, but then a deep voice said,

"Is this Elena Giùgovaz?"

"Yes it is! Who is this?"

There was no answer for several seconds. She kept asking him who he was, but he wouldn't answer, all though she could hear breathing in the background, and a familiar chime like sound. She wanted to know who was asking for her, but was too tired to care. She hung up, and fell back to sleep on the sofa.

There was a phone call at the nurses station at Valle Pacifica hospital.

A nurse by the name of Saundra answered it.

The voice on the other end was the same one who had just called Elena.

He asked for Rayna Alekseev. Saundra found her, and informed her that she had a phone call.

She answered,

"Hello?"

It was exactly the same situation that just played out at Elena's house.

Rayna was confused. She thought it was juvenile kid from school who may have found out where she was. It wasn't the first time she received a prank phone call. But was this just a prank?
