Insomniac

The darkness surrounds me. The silence is deafening. Once again I lie awake with no particular reason why. I long for sleep, even crave it but it eludes me time and time again. My brain fills with one line stories and poems that will never take shape or form the perfect piece. The night draws on forever, seeming to stretch into infinity.
Will it ever end? Will I ever sleep? My eyes are heavy, my body aches from the day I just experienced, and yet my mind is overactive thinking and spinning. All the pills in the world cannot help. They are a tried and failed method. Herbal and medicinal pills have all been found lacking in their claims.
It’s early in the morning and I hope to fall asleep after so many sleepless and lonely nights. The streaks of the morning begin to pour through the crack of my curtains. I beg and pray for sleep, just a few hours to keep me going for the day ahead of me. I close my eyes tight shut and keep them shut to block out the approaching day.
I fall asleep from exhaustion. Too many nights without sleep finally lead to this night of bliss and rejuvenation.
