Get Out

of bed---you’ve slept long enough.

As feet collide with the floor a radio
exhales a panoply of news
dressed in colour and circumstance:

Teenager saves neighbour fallen
through ice---mother grateful;
Orca killer whales trapped in Arctic;
Taliban assault begins.

Hurry-hurry get washed
dressed then eat while ears assailed
the world is waiting with further
items to digest –

Same sex marriages acceptable
in another state;
One child found after 30 years
grandma not facing arrest.

Things to do
places to go
decisions under consideration
and further news
left behind in a cacophony
of soon-forgotten titles.
