A Memory Away

Mary arose from the shadows
of her room --- a
moon upon a slice of sky
watcher in the night,
brings tears
followed by many more --
thinks of her man
she almost married years ago.
Last night’s call
said it all, “Clint is gone.”
Cancer had its due.
She turns away; returns
to the shelter of bed’s womb,
dreams of earlier days.
