A less tainted view of tragedy

may be found in the eye of the beast

for the beast knows lttle of sadness

whereas man invented it

ideas that spawn lives of their own

interpretations that wither with time

all born in the minds of those present 

conscious for but a short while

So shall the lion offend the

or the bear or the shark

they live only in innocence

while you die in guilt

The quest for knowledge and understanding

the taming of the wilds

the banishing of the darkness

the fear of the unknown

fresh paint upon the mask

re-shaping of the story

written lies that bear no truth

the image in the still water

is one and all the same

remove the mask and gaze

upon the soul of man

beneath all of his trappings

there remains a beast
