There was great rush of activity today as the senior man servant had to go home back to his own flat. While he was getting ready to leave my lady and man servant were kept very busy changing beds and getting the home back to normal. They even remade the bed the senior man servant slept in and put my favourite towel on it in my favourite corner for me to sleep on.
Yesterday, Friday, the servants returned home from shopping and had a bag from a pet shop. Could this be my new yellow banana that I had been waiting for? No! Instead it was this:
Oh well it will have to do but I must express my utter disappointment at how this situation appears to have resolved itself. Not favourably in my opinion.
Apparently on the way home from senior man servant’s home my servants bought some fule for the car. They remarked that they only had to pay £1.10 per litre in Bournemouth. They thought this was marvellous as it only cost £30 to fill the car.
I have been told that the easiest way to become a millionaire investing in oil is to start off as a billionaire. Fortunes have been lost predicting which way the price will go. At the moment it is heading down, for those in the know the expression is ‘heading south’. My own feline prediction is that this trend ‘south’ will continue, especially as the USA is beginning to lift export embargoes on crude oil thus adding more supply to an over supplied market. Russia is pumping as much as it can out of the ground for export to get as many $’s as possible back into its own economy. The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has not cut production either.
Could this be a conspiracy to injure Russia’s already ailing economy as a means of controlling it from flexing it’s muscles in the international arena? Who knows?
Anyway, the good news is that prices at the pumps have come down reducing the cost of living and allowing people to spend more on consumer goods like yellow bananas.
The bad news is that people in the oil industry are now being made redundant, especially in areas like the Athabasca Tar Sands in Canada where extraction costs are very high.
You see, I may be just be a feline, albeit of excellent breeding, but I do listen to the news and conversations and am able to form my own opinions.
Late this afternoon the servants unpacked their shopping bags and I was just hoping for that elusive yellow banana to appear but it did not. It was not until later when I settled back on my favourite corner of the bed that servants came in and presented me with a fresh new yellow banana loaded with catnip. So, you see I am happy for oil prices to fall as long as I can benefit from more yellow bananas.

Hi Alan
Hi Alan
I was curious to see what writing you did that would go along with your idea of telling about how things were for future civilizations. This an interesting way of telling about the news - getting it second hand from the cat. I presume you are a cat lover - which I must admit I am not. But it is an interesting vehicle for telling a story.
When you started out talking about man servents, etc. I was thinking that it would be set in India in days gone by - but it appears to be up to date and English.
