The problem with remembering
Is the memory itself.
Recalling hurts and scars,
Revisiting pain and anguish,
Turning inside out joy that
Should have been
To tears that salted earth.
The problem with remembering
Is the image itself.
Veiled by memory’s haze,
Only sharpest visions loom
With points so keen they cut
And wound where wounds once healed
Turning back to time long past.
The problem with remembering
Is the forgetting.
Recall the face of innocence.
Revisit love’s revelation.
Turn around and find the joy,
The unremembered lingering delights,
Imprisoned in the attic of the mind.
