Interviewer: Women in particular; we face challenges, so much of the world depends on us to be perfect and young and this and that. Then as soon as you start having children, and a lot of people are able to maintain it. But even so... there are certain stigmas, and there's a natural tendency for us to seek a new place in our lives, it comes with the maturing and the grace. We become older, there's nothing wrong with that- we become wiser, and the expectations of who we are to the people around us change. So that is just natural, I feel sorry for those people ho don't get it. I see actresses who are in their fifties and are still beautiful, I mean, you're beautiful. We're beautiful just because we're over 45.
We understand that we are who we are, we are not attempting to look with the collagen and all of those things, we're not competing with the twenty-five-year-olds in a way. That's absurd.
We are living in a time now where things are coming into balance, that once you get to a certain point, our calls have changed, our roles change. And the white woman changes with those role changes. So no matter how you slice it, you got out when you knew that it was time.
You've lived that mid-period and now you're ready to explode into the wisdom stage, and that is a beautiful thing.
Reconciling all of those phases of your life together and how the Lord fits into it, is a part of that grace, and a part of that wisdom. It's wonderful, I'm really glad to be meeting you at this time.
It fits in...I'm really glad that you gave me this opportunity to speak on my own I probably didn't talk about a lot of things I wanted to talk about, but I did want people to know who I was and to know that I wasn't some drug addict, alcoholic, suicidal PORNO star (laughter)...you know, I hate that phrase "porno star".
I always and I had taught the ladies I worked with, to call ourselves "Adult Film Stars", and not "Porno" that drags our name through the mud.
But I came into another situation, what the Lord brought me through over the next twenty years as an incredible experience and this is after "The Sins of Angel Kelly", this is "The M-Town Story", and dealing with, trying to make a life for myself as this film star.
If you could only imagine the people who did the double-takes, and said "I've seen you before"; "you look familiar, I'm not really sure where I've seen you."
I get that all the time. There was this old bag lady, forgive me for saying this Miss Mary, I will never forget this.
About two weeks ago I was in a corner store, and I was admiring the building because my friend was showing it to me, as he had just bought it, set it up.
And she came and she stopped and she looked at me, and said, "how are you?"
I said, " I'm fine. How are you, are you doing well?"
And she said "I know my Angel" (Laughter) Then she walked on out the door, and my friends looked at me, and were, like, "she knows you from somewhere." And I thought that was so crazy because my friend didn't know what she meant.
I had a strange feeling that is what she meant, when she said: "I know my Angel!"
There's something special about Angel, there's a double meaning there.
Interviewer: Is there anything that you want our listeners, and others, to know about you that we haven't touched on?
For me it's very important because this has been a very long struggle for me, and meeting you was one of the neatest things I've experienced over the last five years in giving me an opportunity to express myself; to let folks know more about me and where I'm trying to go.
I desperately want to move forward in my life.
I try very, very hard to keep my mind and my heart and my soul open, and to love my neighbor.
That's a hard thing, but that's what God wants.
I mean that's all that I know and that's all I can share with anyone who will listen. I hope that they will open up their hearts and give themselves an opportunity to know me; see what's happening here in Memphis and what I'd like to achieve and what I'd like to establish.
I'm just like them and I'm not saying that I should be treated somewhat special or any of that nature.
But I want them to know that God has placed some incredible people in my life.
I'm fifty-years-old and I still have 19-year-olds trying to get my phone number. I'm Fifty-years-old, I have experienced some things. That really is disturbing. I want to say to them, "Son, I really could be your Grandma." I'm just shocked.
