Rider

In the storm, in the deep, on the rock and in the fire
In the storm, in the deep, on the rock and in the fire
We were caught in freezing cold hit by strong wind
A little shed we cramped in in the blizzard of a barren land
A light bulb lit a pocket we held on to the neck
Like a bubble in the sphere gave warmth inside the shack
When the wind blew our shed we were holding to our breath
Falling deep into slumber and numbed in slow death
In the weight of this pressure by the cold extreme dawn
We barely felt alive then a stir of a little yawn
Rider saved my life
In the storm and in the deep
On the rock and through the fire
In life and death between
I was sinking to the bottom in a strange, dreary night
Waves rolled over my head burying distant lights
There were people carried away and I saw the floating bridge
I couldn’t swim across the sea and climb the mile long ridge
In a grab I found a line and there were voices far behind
My brother and sister holding on to a line in my hand
So I dived deep below where my soul could simply drown
It occurred in the struggle I just did it on my own
Rider saved my life
In the storm and in the deep
On the rock and through the fire
In life and death between
On the top of flat earth rock this close seeing death
The risk gravely in my face when I walked on the edge
In a mass scale exodus moving in a stampede
In torn clothes and wounds no man could ever bleed
I couldn’t grab better ground I turned my focus around
Got to save my own soul from the herd of rotten crowd
People hang on to the cliff and whose hands pull them up
Loose stones dropped to the pit every time I missed a step
Rider saved my life
In the storm and in the deep
On the rock and through the fire
In life and death between
There’s a fire I can’t see and burns that cannot heal
Each man at his own greed, who’d know how you feel
They burned the place to dust and I ran to save my things
I got caught in the chaos in the loot of the town
When the prisoners made the break I tried to escape
I got trapped in thick black smoke and burglars stormed the place
I was stuck inside my house when the roof fell to the floor
Holding to my belongings and I couldn’t find the door
Rider saved my life
In the storm and in the deep
On the rock and through the fire
In life and death between
Rider saved my life
In the storm and in the deep
On the rock and through the fire
In life and death between
In the storm, in the deep, on the rock and in the fire
In the storm, in the deep, on the rock and in the fire
