    The Electoral College serves a useful purpose...  one doesn't just rubbage it because one's side lost the election...  Without it, smaller states would feel voiceless and unhonored in the election process...  I do apologize for a mistatement I made...  no further comment on that.  Regarding trade, globalization is good in the longer run, but we need trade barriers until we work out issues like human rights and environmental protections because when we have these and trade partners don't, we lose them and we lose out in the trade competition

The electoral college system still seems unfair as this was the basis for the choice of President rather than a simple majority. The system is what it is and we are where we are on that one.

Regarding free trade, I take the reverse view that by opening up borders for trade in goods and services that in itself leads to improvements in human rights etc as increasing numbers of people are exposed to different cultures.
