Once upon a time, on a farm, there lived a boy called Peter who was not very physically strong and his father and mother worried wether he would be strong enough to be a farmer and do all the jobs that farmers have to do
But he had an amazing skill for painting and drawing.
Infact he was so good at painting that people found it difficult telling his pictures from real things.
For example, one time he painted a fly upon the wall of his house and his father, thinking it was real, tried to swat it.
And one day, while the boy was out walking in the countryside, he came upon a tower in which a princess was being held prisoner.
He wanted to free her but he wasn't strong enough to break down the locked door of the tower.
But then, as he was looking around the boy saw a field nearby with a very large ram in it and so, taking his paint and paintbrush, he painted a picture of a ram upon the door of the tower.
And he painted the picture so well that it looked just like a real ram.
And when the ram in the field nearby saw it, thinking it was another ram to butt heads with, it came crashing through the gate around the field and then crashing through the door.
Ofcourse the ram lost interest when it looked at the wooden splinters of the broken door and realised it was not a ram and when the ram had gone away, the boy went up the stairs of the tower and rescued the princess.
But then the Princess said to the boy,
"I'm grateful to you for rescuing me but I'm still frightened about what the ogre who locked me in the tower will do when he finds out I've gone".
Just then, however, as Peter was looking around, he saw a large standing stone; a very sturdy one that not even six men would have been able to move and he had an idea.
And taking his paint and brushes, Peter quickly started to paint a picture of himself upon the stone that was so good that the princess couldn't even tell the difference between Peter and his painting.
Then, as he heard the ogre returning home, Peter seized of the princess's hand and they both hid behind the stone.
Ofcourse, when the ogre saw the broken door of the tower and realized that the princess was gone he was furious and shouted, like thunder,
"Who has done this? Whoever it is, when I find him, I'll beat his brains in and tear him limb from limb".
But then, from behind the standing stone, Peter called out,
"Oh you will, will you? Well I rescued the princess".
And, turning in the direction of Peters voice, the Ogre saw Peters picture on the standing stone but it was such a good and lifelike picture that the Ogre thought it was real and started to punch it.
"Hah! Is that the best you can do!", shouted Peter from behind the stone as the Ogre struck at his painted face.
And, sadly for the ogre, punching the stone only hurt his hands and made him tired.
And he got so worn out in fact that the ogre had to lie down and when he did, the ogre fell asleep.
"Quick", said the Princess, seeing the sleeping ogre, "While the ogres asleep. Kill him".
But Peter didn't like killing things; at heart he was really a very gentle person.
However, Peter had a better idea and, as the Ogre slept, Peter took his paint and brush and started to paint a picture on the Ogres bottom.
"What are you doing now?", asked the Princess, "You should kill him, I say or else when he wakes up he'll kill us".
But Peter told her not to worry and when his painting job was done, he took her by the hand and led her away saying, "He won't bother us again. You'll see".
And it was true, for when the Ogre woke up he saw Peter and the Princess walking away down the road and then, looking at the painting on the standing stone of Peter, realized that he'd been tricked but then, before he could chase after them, the big ram from the field came charging into the Ogres bottom with its horns, sending him flying head over heels.
Peter had painted a picture of a rams head on the ogres bottom you see and it was such a good painting that the ram thought it was real.
Then, rather than the ogre chasing Peter and the Princess, it was the ram that chased the frightened ogre down the road.
After that, because Peter had saved her from the tower and the Ogre, the Princess married Peter and they lived happily ever after.
