An Argument Against Sam Harris's Assertion That Islamic Terrorism Is Motivated Solely By Religion

If the Qur'an alone is responsible for turning  people  into terrorists and suicide bombers one has to wonder how Sam Harris managed to read it without turning into an Islamic terrorist.

Could it be that his American culture, his psychology, his education or other factors stopped the Qur'an from turning him into a murderous fanatic?

And isn't that concrete proof that the Qur'an, contrary to what Sam Harris claims in many interviews, is not the only thing that motivates people to become terrorists and suicide bombers; that it must be a combination of factors both religious and either psychological or cultural or political?

Surely Sam Harris can see that, if every single muslim in the entire world is reading the same holy book with the same passages about jihad and martyrdom and paradise but they are not all becoming terrorists and suicide bombers it is because religious doctrine, by itself, is not enough of a motivation for them to become terrorists?

And isn't it ridiculous to think that any book or religion, by itself, has the power to turn people into terrorists?

Would reading Mein Kampf turn anyone who read it into a Nazi or only those people who, for psychological, cultural or other reasons are responsive to what they read?
