Why Do

poets write about love?

Is it because

of one sweet face

the kind that pulls you

into a pair of lips

fire-smooth and attractive

as lightning in the sky.

Poets write of family

where a glow of strength

is nurtured. Mother

and father special and rare                     

in the twilight

of moments many days ago.

Poets write about loss

in a lifetime of incidents--

children being raised

with abilities to turn a heart 

then happily moving on

within the abundance

of their own get-go lives.
