You are sitting on your patio

it is today again.

The morning after a big decision is hard.

You have to just sit there.

On your kitchen noticeboard is a photograph

of all of you at a wedding on a boat.
Everyone was proposing to everyone that night.

That was the first summer any of us had a camera

on our phone. Every moment was documented

and archived and will not stop reappearing,

even now, in the staff room or sitting on the comfortable

seating in soft play areas, scrolling

or sitting on your patio about to get up to make breakfast

but not this morning. You're not sure you can eat anything.
