By No-one's Rhetoric

We walked, yesterday,
under blue skies,
in uplands,
in sunlight
brought to us
by no-one’s rhetoric
or promises.
It was cold, yes.
We left a house
still unheated
-it’s October,
barely autumn,
I am almost
a Northerner.
Three old ladies,
dressed in long coats
and headscarves,
with wind-rouged cheeks,
stopped to fuss
Dog, and their faces
beamed like the sun.
I wondered if
they’d keep their coats
and scarves on,
when they got home.

I am very worried about the
I am very worried about the consequences of paying for furlough. There have been several cutbacks on not very expensive to provide NHS services. Not immediately life threatening, but hugely life quality impacting, and must be particularly so for older people. To ring up the Health centre for something which helped you keep going, to be told is no longer available unless you go private is scary when shopping and energy are going up so fast
