Convoy To Canberra

Thousands gather in Canberra
With signs; “Where is the PM”.
No maskers target policemen,
asking for hugs to spread the bugs.

‘Trump’ flag waves in EPIC park
amongst Aussie and Aboriginal?
US demonstrators, importing
‘freedom’ to kill by infection!

Who is supporting these aliens
purporting to save our nation?
What right have they to harass
those who follow our rules? 

Super-spreaders happy to
infect mates, reject community,
stand-up for ignorance. Selfish,
bored. Terrorists looking for a war.

These are excellent words to describe even more ways in which our world is in a tragic mess. At a time when so many people might appreciate a hug we just can't.

I take comfort from the fact that such a large proportion of the global community think the same way as me. If only their numbers were greater.

Thank you for reading and commenting on my piece,Turlough.  It shames me that people on this planet refuse, selfishly, to think of others.  We are one human race who (thank goodness) mostly take care of ourselves, if we can, in order to safeguard our communities... These protesters were protesting against vaccinations, deliberately not following the safety rules - bleating about their 'freedoms'.  Then of course, I noticed a Trump Banner amongst the protesters in Canberra and was utterly shocked.  In Australia! 'Freedom for me to do what I think right' so often seems to become 'You must do what I think, and let me harrass you if you disagree with me' and so governments have to make hurried rules, knowing that full wisdom in new situations isn't there yet.

I take it that 'No maskers' is 'No-maskers' ie those angry at ordered wearing of masks?

My motto is: "when in Rome, do as the Romans do" by which I mean that when one is on foreign soil one must show respect to that country and adhere to its rules and regulations regardless of one's beliefs. 
Keep well and stick to your principles.
