The main shop that we do our shopping is, the supermarket Tesco. Around England, there are all different types of Tesco’s, some are called expressed, others are at petrol stations, a few Tesco’s they are SO big, they are like a small village. The Tesco that I shop at regularly isn’t like a small village, but it is big, it is just that I am used to it. it sells a very large selection of clothes, has a chemist, sells mobile phones, has a lovely café, has a money exchange, a barbers, has many tills and self service that is Card Only :0( and sells a very wide range of food, from all over the world. They did have a very large electrical section, but that closed down, about two years ago.
Most of the Staff, who are on the tills, we know them well and have a natter as they are scanning our shopping. They talk about themselves, and we talk about ourselves, we talk about the weather when it is Very hot and when we have a rain storm with lighting and thunder, pouring down the windows of the store.
Today, I went as usual to my Tesco, and the lovely lady was at the till, I chose her, there were many others who I could have chosen, but I chose her. During the course of the conversation, she said to me, “It was really busy this morning.” I said, “I told my husband, I Bet they have been panic buying,” She said, “Yes a little, but tomorrow they will all be panic buying,” Concerned I said, “Why?” She said, “They will be coming here on Saturday!” I said, “Really?” She said, “Yes.” I said, “I will be staying at my Mum’s for 5 days, but not sleeping there, coming home at 10pm, each night.” I asked, “How do you know, they will be here on Saturday, does everyone who works here know?” She said, “Yes and all the police know too.” I was now alarmed. For my Mum lives many miles from my home. It has been a troubling time for all of us here in England, very stressful, all this unknown stuff. My Husband had said to me, “This too will Pass.”
I have a union Jack, on either side of my car with poppies too with them. I was excited about the King and his Coronation because I knew, that lots of union Jacks would be on sale, and I would be able to buy them and put them in my car and on my locker at work. I bought a pack of napkins and they did the trick, I only needed to use two for my car, the rest of the pack I keep in my works bag, should I ever need to replace them.
Because of all the ‘troubles’ I have started to park my car outside my house, and not at the bottom of the road, where I usually like to park it, and I have looked at my tyres as I approach my car, to make sure they are ‘ok’ because I feel maybe my car could be a target, because I feel now a lot of people everywhere now hate my beloved union Jack. I think England is the only country in the world where her own people and everyone else, hates the union Jack. All other countries of the world proudly show off their flag, but not England. England sees it as a bad thing.
I was born in England, and my Mum always said, to me, “The country that you are born in, pledge to it.” Absolutely!
I remember growing up in England, with the National Front, they brought fear into many hearts and it was shorted to NF all over the place, NF was strayed. Even to this day, when I see NF, it brings fear into my soul.
I would NEVER dream of wearing a union Jack, the NF had damaged its reputation. The NF had made it a bad flag and everyone hated it! All nationalities, hated the union Jack here in England, and so did I.
Most of my friends would still never wear anything with a union Jack on.
The Royal Family loves the union Jack. I remember waving my union Jack when I saw Princess Anne when I was eleven, I remember waving it again in 1977 when I saw the Queen. For the Queen’s visit I had bought my red white and blue wedged shoes with laces that came up my ankles, like the Queen would see it! :o) myself and millions of other around England waved our union Jacks with pride!
How time has changed again against my beloved flag. This week, I have felt that I am the ONLY one in the whole of England who still love the flag. It is a strange, lonely feeling.
So, after Saturday, will I still love my Flag? Or will I join everyone else, and hate it too?
