High School Sweethearts

They are 9th grade biologists 

playing with scalpels and curettes 

dissecting each other and shredding

past relationships 



At the end of the year,

they can identify nothing

but the parts of a broken heart



They fail the course



They are 10th grade chemists

calculating the exact words

that will emit the reaction 

they want



Unfortunately, the education system 

is sloppy

and so are the words they pour into each other



They fail the course



They are now 11th grade physicists

trying to understand why sloppy kisses 

make their stomachs fall to the floor

and their hearts weightless



The closest they get

is realizing friction and motion

between two bodies 

creates a lot of heat



They fail the course



What the teachers never seem to realize

is the students don't care about passing

they just want to learn

and experience
