Saturday Night In The City

Lovers on the street
Blisters on my feet
From walking around a city
I barely know
Looking for somebody
I don’t know
That wants to know me
Free tickets could be mine
Promise young attractive guys
That want to see a part of me
Thats always been
For my eyes only
They ask me expectantly
A show for a show
And I just keep on walking
I settle for a cup of tea
In a Starbucks that’s about to close
Because the city never sleeps
But coffee is replaced with alcohol
At 10 pm on a Saturday night
The people I want to meet
Are out living a life
They’ll regret Tomorrow morning
When they’re at church
Swearing ‘never again’
And keeping that promise
Til Friday
I’ll be kicked out soon
And I’ll be back at home
in fifteen minutes
Wishing this night
Could’ve been filled with something
Other than too tight shoes,
too weak tea,
And lust filled boys
Hitting on me
