Swarthy sailors sing: aye,
this is the life for me! I have
contracted scurvy and stepped
on a rusty nail, but all that
matters, dear captain, is that
we sail, sail, sail!
Meanwhile, an innocent one
lays below deck - doesn't show
his fray, but he's a nervous wreck!
Dreams of his summer love, a fair-haired girl
who's threatened to give
everyone's lives a whirl
Too bad he'll never see her 'gain,
for on his way up to his shift he'll
trip and break his neck! All these sailors,
foolish 'nough to think this a temporary trek.
The sea consumes, dooms;
you don't go into the water,
tell it to keep you afloat,
and leave without extending
the same gesture.

I love pirate stories and poems, and I think we should have a World Pirates Day when it's compulsory to dress up in eye patches, spotty headscarves and wooden legs and do an awful lot of haa-haaring.
I know your piece has a serious side too, and I don't mean to belittle it. Also, it's nice that you can also do pieces that have little or nothing to do with your personal problems.

I like this very much and especially this bit; "
"but all that matters, dear captain, is that we sail, sail, sail!"
Says a lot.

Everything that you write is
Everything that you write is autobiographical, even the stuff that isn't.

Your welcome mate. And you
Your welcome mate. And you should be rightfully proud of what you're writing because it is of an excellent quality and standard. I can only imagine what it will be like with a few more years under your belt!
I put you in the same bracket (standards-wise) as a couple of the very best on this sight, Mistaken-Magic and Sid. Sid just had a big clear out of her stuff but one poem remains called "Shall We". That one is so well worth reading. Anything by Mistaken-Magic.
You will be pushing for a place on the podium alongside those two in a couple of years or I don't know nuthin'.
Regards, scratch.
