why so blue

the sky
is not blue
because it reflects
the ocean.
the sky
is not blue
because of the
tears of our ancestors
or the tears of our own.
the sky
is not blue
because everything
starts, and ends up,
as water.
the sky is blue
because the Earth's atmosphere
scatters light from the sun and
the blue light travels in shorter,
smaller waves.
but i'm a poet.
if you ask me, maybe it
reflects the ocean. and maybe
it is from all of our unattended
tears that sink their way into beers
and lonely bedsheets. and possibly,
perhaps, it's about our creation and
our destination.
i don't have the answer.
i am a poet. i am sewn together
with faulty theories, opinions, and
make-believe worlds. i fought all the kings
with a sword. i sailed the mighty seas.
basically, science means nothing to me.
