ON THE BEACH

I am a shell; I'm not the only one.
I live on the beach where there's lots of fun;
Not the trollop-like type; I ignore that.
By the smallest sand dune is where I'm sat.
Sometimes people say that I am pretty,
But there are much prettier shells than me.
I spend days and nights in the open air.
Sometimes I'm shaded by a nice deck chair.
Children often give me a little nudge.
Dogs sniff me but I will not hold a grudge.
Feeling free by the sea is brilliant,
For though I am empty my life isn't.
