WHY I WRITE

I write because,
Writing is a love of mine.
It's a compulsion,
Not just a pastime.

I write because,
I have a need to share.
To communicate,
With you, out there.

I write because,
Writing's a part of me.
My mind turns to ink,
Or the stroke of a key.

I write because,
I don't want to drop dead,
Not having expressed,
What I should have said.

I want to amuse, I want to touch.
I want to thought-provoke and excite.
I want to be more than an empty page.
I want to connect.
And that's why I write.
