ZEST NO MORE

She called him a lemon.
He called her a tart.
She called him a cabbage,
Without any heart.
He said she was nuts.
She said he was right.
And then, rather naturally,
They had a big food fight.
But not so long ago,
She was his sugar plum.
He was the icing on the cake,
She was his sticky bun.
But the sweetness turned sour.
Their words had become bitter.
A love wrapped up like chocolate,
Had now just left them with litter.
