Freshwater bay (revised)

I stand by the cold stone cross,
To then breathe in in the view;
While my mind slowly ponders
Upon visions of you.
I note how the wild east wind,
Twists the gnarled stunted trees,
Shaping their tawny limbs,
With such terrible ease.
While to my left and below at my feet,
I see the tall, grey, craggy cliffs
Where the wild driven seas
grapple with terrible thunder to meet.
So I shut my eyes tight
And long for you here,
To just catch a small glimpse
of the mere ghost of a tear.
But time, -like our lives-
Screams out a loud smash
Then just floats far, far away...
Like these storm tossed green seas,
Around Freshwater bay.
ii
I miss you so much,
The pain never ends,
I thought that you
were my forever friend.
I thought that meant here,
I thought that meant now,
But now is all but ashes;
That leaves me riddled with doubt.
I long to reach out, I beg you to hear,
But my words fade way
With this cold winter tear.
So, I’m left all alone,
With my thoughts and my fears,
Oh how I wish to sweet Christ
that you were just here.
But time -like our lives-
Screams out a loud smash
To just float far, far away;
Upon the storm tossed green seas
Along Freshwater bay.
iii
To a mother and a son,
To a loving dear father,
The old and the young.
To the wars and the cost,
To the terror and pain!
That we do to each other
Again and again!
We reach out, we touch,
And then we are gone,
To leave nothing but memories
of our tender love song.
I think of our years,
The laughter, the joy,
And then come the tears
From me and "your boy".
I then turn open the urn,
To the cold bitter breeze,
I watch you take form
Then fly far from me.
For moment your there,
Then you whisper away,
Along the storm tossed green seas,
Of Freshwater bay.

There is such a beautiful -
There is such a beautiful - poetic saddness to this poem, that left my spirit wanting to read more.
All the feelings you've written down come straight from the heart and that's what writing is all about.
Thank you for sharing this piece.
Jenny.

very vivid peice, I love the area you chose to site it in. Not sure if this is a real experience. Perhaps that's the magic of this poem. How uncertain is your reader?
maisie Guess what? I'm still alive!

The wildness of the sea and wind is so well described, and seems to fit the anguish, and the seeking to live on despite the anguish. Rhiannon
