Turtle-doves at midnight

Turtle doves at midnight duel in this sharp moonlight
Their necking in nesting hints their held in so snug
Their wrapped wings sojourn against bitter payment
That comes from following his long winter’s night tug
But tender the spirit! Oh so quietly how she whispers,
In wrestling surges to strike at his dark fathomless sea
That rises in waves of hissed raged-slashed -clamour;
Against the chilling murmur of his night seeded spray.
And between the wild lunar canyon’s now crystallising
Seen through the folding limbs of the cold winter trees
The doves rise in dances of silk stretched stalk fingers
They play in cracked cycles to fight against hearts decay
Oh how they move in the low hush of the night’s breeze
To sooth heated hearts and soften the hard metal minds
Of those who long for cool air and now ache to be free.
By the weight of the gossamer silver spun shard swords
We are guarded by the ghost against this wild bitter night
Triumphantly we stare at the crows now swift departure
Knowing that huge waves of peace will now start to rise
So boldly with joy we dance in the light of our new love
To rock off with peace in our soft and tender warm clasps
To then slide far away from our rich dream filled creation
As the dawns warm soothing lips brings forth the new day.
