My first thought was to run. I looked over at Mum and Rnnie to see whether they had the same thought as well. I mean, a great big dirty demon was towering over us. You would run as well, wouldn't you?
"Run!" I screamed at them. "Please! Just run!"
They didn't do anything. They just stood there, rooted to the spot, staring up at what was once Damon.
He looked down at us, spitting and snarling. The spit rained down on us, great big sploshes. One landed on me and I felt like I drowning.
Why was I the only one with the natural instinct to run? I stared at Mum, willing her to grab Ronnie and go.
My thought waves seemed to be working, suddenly Mum turned on her heel and sped off.
"Wait, Mum!" I cried. I grabbed my sister and ran after Mum.
We tore along the beach, until we got to a cave. Panting, we jogged inside and hid. We looked back across the beach. The demon hadn't moved from it's spot. It still stood there, snarling and spitting. We wondered whether to stay in the cave or risk running past it to get home.
"I can't believe he's an evil demon!" Mum wailed. "He seemed so nice."
"Well, that's how they all start out," I told her, thinking of the movie "Wolf Creek".
"Do you think we should risk a chance and run past him?" She asked.
"No," I said. "Not yet, anyway. Let's hide in this cave, and wait and see what he does."
So we hid in the cave, watchiong the demon spit and snarl. We watched him do it for at least half an hour, except it felt like millenniums. I think at one point I fell asleep. I was jerked awake when a figure came into our cave. As I woke, my vision seemed blurry, and the figure looked large and scary. I screamed.
"Don't worry, missy! It's me."
I recognised that voice. As the cobwebs of sleep subsided, I saw that the figure was none other than the vicar who had warned us about the end of the world.
"It's you!" I blurted out.
"Yes, it's me. You didn't believe me, did yoy? When I warned you about the end of the world. Well, who's laughing now, huh?"
"I don't think any of us should be laughing!" Mum retorted. "Not with that thing out there, waiting to seize us!"
"Ah, but you don't know do you? That I know how to get rid of it."
"Well, then, how? How do you get rid of that monster?"
"With a trick."
"How do you get rid of a great big monster with tricks?"
"You have to make it think you want to be eaten by it."
"That's such a crazy idea!"
"Not really." The vicar opened up his cloak, and revealed a ray gun.
"You make him swallow you whole, then you blow up his insides with this!"
I looked over at Mum. Clearly, she was thinking this man was nut as well.
"Well, I'd like to see you volunteer to do it," Mum sneered.
"All right, I will then." The vicar turned around and left the cave.
I watched him stoll along the beach, up to the red demon. Then I couldn't bear to watch any more. I turned and faced the wall; my face hidden in my hands.
I heard Mum gasp.
"It's swallowed him!" She cried. "It's swallowed him whole!"
I took my head out of my hands. I turned and looked out of the hole. All I saw was the demon, still spitting. Still snarling.
"Do you think his plan's going to work?" I asked Mum.
"Sssh. Let's wait and see," she whispered.
We waited and watched for about five minutes. Then, suddenly, the demon exploded everywhere. As I watched with a horrified fascination, the bits of demon along the beach vanished without a trace.
Mum, Ronnie and I came out of the cave, to enjoy the start of a new world...
