RED SKATE CHAPTER TWO

There lying over the ice, was the mangled body of Julia Entwistle. The poor girl was covered in blood, and a skate was sticking out her throat.
My partner, Cathy Jones, whistled.
"My God," she said. "What monster could have done this?"
"Why would they do it?" I answered.
Cathy took a couple of photos with her camera.
"We'll need to take the skate back to the lab," I said, slipping on a pair of rubber gloves.
"Yes, and I'll swab a portion of the blood as well," Cathy said.
"Why?"
"Because, sometimes, in a murder scene, not all the blood is the victim's."
"You mean she could've struggled?"
"Yes, I'm deducing maybe Julia was just going for a skate. The killer turns up, and tries to kill her. Before that however, they get into a struggle, in which the killer grabs Julia's skate, and thrusted it in her neck."
I groaned. "Cathy, you're living in a "CSI" episode, but this part usually comes towards the end, when the killer's been caught out."
"I know, but... I'm good at these things." Cathy grinned weakly at me, took out a swabbing stick, and proceeded to swab some of the blood surrounding Julia.
After about half an hour, Cathy and I headed back to the lab. We set out the evidence we'd collected - the bag full of blood; the photos of Julia's body - out on a desk.
The phone suddenly rang, and while Cathy went to answer it, I focused on the photos, eager for a sign that perhaps there was a sign of a struggle. Slap marks on Julia's face, maybe? Or probably footprints?
I was staring at the photo for so long, that it sudenly hit me, and when I heard Cathy come back, I turned excitedly to tell her.
I gasped. Cathy was standing thee, but she wasn't on her own...
Who was standing thee with Cathy? And what had Sally found? Find out in Chapter Three...
