Cornish Ghetto Wedding

In the meadow (which is a ghetto),

the well-heeled and so-so dressed

make do with luxury.

Basilisk businessmen become mellow-eyed,

and the wives, well the wives

do what must be done and make do

with what must be.

One of them lets breeding slip

and slyly mocks the Northern tongue

of a waiter who would rather be

anywhere but in this paddock,

the genteel meadow, so pleasant,

where these ghetto folk

sharpen their knives.
