Titus weighed his options, surely Marian could figure out what she needed without him. And It’s not as though his Affliction bothered him as much as it seemed to bother others, he controlled himself for the most part. He also preferred his privacy, staying here would be exactly what Veronica had mentioned - a cult (minus the sex and sacrifice). Living with who knows how many people with questionable freedom. No, he did what he needed to, he came, found out what she wanted, now he could go back to his trailer in Colorado and live out his days alone the way he liked and -
“Fuck it mate, we got nothin’ betta’ goin’ on. Consider us three in.” The orange haired triplet had shot to standing form her position between her sisters legs on the floor with a wolfish grin, startling Titus and half the room from their thoughts. Her siblings chimed up with similar expletives and excitement, slappin each other on the arms and throwing arms around shoulders. Marian broke into a wide, relieved smile and all but flounced her hands with joy, welcoming them through the door. And just like that, a subtle trickle through the doorway began, one by one, the others stood and made their way through, sometimes with a reason, sometimes not.
The angry man clenched his jaw tightly, Titus watched his masseter jump and flex at the action and he thought and thought before giving a hmpf and trudging through.
“The plot thickens, then.” Titus nearly forgot about Veronica invading his personal space, head lolling side to side rhythmically, “what to do, what to do. Its almost like the red pill or blue pill, innit?” He hummed in response, and just like that he heard her voice, tantalizing, hot breath against the shell of his ear, “Aw, c’mon, Titus, what have you got to lose?”
Clenching his jaw, Titus pushed off the wall with remiss, “My sanity, I suppose. Cost benefit analysis doesn’t exactly flow here, Ms. Bertray.”
Veronica tutted at him and pursed her lips, directing his gaze around the now empty room. It appeared even Marian had left them to their talks. Veronica gracefully meandered to the center of the room, “Say whatever you want about cost-benefit analysis, Sugar, sometimes it’s safe to follow the group consensus.” With that she sauntered through the door too.
Titus stared after her, expression blank, foot frustratedly tapping away, and hands in his pockets. He sucked at his lip in a tsk and forced himself to move to the door as well before he could think about it too much, “Yeah sure, follow the consensus until it turns to mass-fucking-hysteria.” He grumbled as he passed the doorway himself.
