The workings of Sadie Mill's mind

The mind is such a curious place,
in the outer limits of the human brain.
lays a world unburdened by the mundane realities,
that only reason can account for.
That untouched place,
that surrenders itself to the quiet mind,
freeing itself from the constraints of conformity,
shunning the ordinary,
and delving fearlessly into the unknown.
Hoping to settle,
on an idea so unique,
that we know what it feels like,
to be truly free,
in every sense of the word.
And so with all this in mind,
Sadie Mill set of on a merry adventure all of her own.
She was half expecting not to find anything out of the ordinary.
When she stumbled upon a common looking owl,
perched on what appeared to be candy cane,
stretched so far that it could have passed for a stairway into heaven.
The forest seemed to be made entirely of delightful sweets,
as far as she could tell of an edible nature,
a very pleasing sight to Sadie who was known for having a sweet tooth.
The owl arched his neck and tweeted a merry tune,
to Sadie's astound she found she could understand the tweeting of the owl song.
So she decided to speak directly to the owl,
interrupting his song, which made the owl rather cross,
'I didn't know owl's could sing' Sadie remarked,
'Indeed they can as you just witnessed', replied the owl,
'It's all so strange, why that means you understand every conversation held in this forest', said Sadie,
the owl looked sad,
'As I do what I hear is my burden to bear, the woes and the hopes of your people make for an interesting observation', responded the owl.
Before Sadie could react,
the owl had flown away into the distance,
leaving a baffled Sadie alone,
accept she now had a candy cane in her hand,
she headed home along the windy compartments,
until she came to a familiar surrounding,
although the owl had vanished out of sight,
whenever Sadie felt alone she seemed comforted,
by the notion that the owl would always be listening and may one day return.
