Concerto

The drunken drum-kit steals the cymbal’s only beat
As one high and violent viola kicks a cello off its feet
And softly plays the fraudulent flute with a precocious piccolo –
Frustrated by the bashful bassoons problems (down below).
Above it all a suicidal saxophone in gutter-tone sings
Of the guilty guitar that slashes at its strings.
Oblivious the pauper piano begs the grand organ for a note,
Hounded in turn by the fascist French-horn that stabbed its clarinet in the throat;
While nearby a maddened mandolin robs a clavichord of its keys,
Unaware of the horny harpsichord forcing a banjo to its knees
And so, as a bible-bashing bagpipe offers prayers up to the moon,
The hungry harmonica scrounges; forever desperate for a tune.
